The Delaware beach town of Bethany Beach is hosting its first-ever Cellofest this weekend, a series of free events featuring renowned cellist Jennifer Kloetzel and unusual cellos by Erica Lessie, the News Journal reports.
From Friday, June 7 to Sunday, June 16, the festival will feature a talk on "Cellos of Unusual Shape," a demonstration by Lessie at the South Coastal Library, and a performance by the Cello Museum Ensemble.
Kids can get in on the action with a storytime at the Bethany Beach Nature Center, a craft session at the library, and a cello "petting zoo" at the local boardwalk.
Kloetzel, a Grammy Award-winning soloist, will perform with the Cellofest Ensemble on Thursday, June 13.
The final performance will feature the ensemble playing pieces by women composers, including Elena Ruehr, Reena Esmail, Andrea Casarrubios, Elaine Fine, Liz Davis Maxfield, Deborah Cheetham, Wanda Sobieska, and Rain Worthington.
