What do you do with all the junk you throw away? If you're the deputy commissioner of Lohit District in India's northeast, you build a convention center out of it.
The Consumerist reports Shashvat Saurabh did just that with an old library and museum campus in Tezu.
The result is the Community Convention Center, which, per a press release, "embodies a significant leap forward in nurturing talent, fostering creativity, and inspiring innovation."
The center, which opened in May, features a theater, concert hall, photo gallery, music wall, and play house, among other things, made out of plastic, metal, and demolition waste.
"It empowers the youth to become agents of positive change within their communities and beyond," Saurabh says.
"Additionally, the center holds immense potential to enhance the tourism experience in the region by showcasing its rich cultural heritage and providing various entertainment, educational, and creative opportunities, thereby fostering connections between tourists and the local community."
