The Emma Malaby Grocery Store in Fort Collins, Colo., has been a staple in the city's history for more than a centuryand it's about to get even more of a home.

After receiving two grants to develop a preservation plan for the 143-year-old store, Historic Larimer County has been given the go-ahead to clean, paint, and organize historical items in the store, which will be open for free tours on June 22, North Forty News reports.

There will also be a vintage car show and two musical acts on the store's front porch.

The Malaby Grocery started out as a photography studio before Frank Collamer bought it in 1906 and turned it into a grocery, North Forty News reports.

His daughter, Emma, took over in 1921 and ran the store until her retirement in 1943.

After Emma died in 1967, the store passed through several hands and ended up in the possession of Jim Burrill, who donated it to Historic Larimer County in 2023.

The group has been working through the winter to curate historical items in the store and to clean and paint the interior before its grand opening. Read the Entire Article
