Dick Van Dyke and his wife, Arlene, have given $3 million to help fund arts education in Malibu schools.
The Van Dyke Endowment for the Arts will provide money for after-school and summer theater programs at the high school and other schools in the area, the Los Angeles Times reports.
"We're going to have a real theater program now," Van Dyke, 98, tells the Malibu Times.
"When kids get up on stage and sing, they suddenly find out something about themselves.
I've directed a lot children, and something changes when they get on the stage.
They get a certain feeling of confidence."
