Six Finalists Chosen for Gas South $100K Charity Reward

An Atlanta-area gas company is putting its money where its mouth is.

Gas South has selected six nonprofit organizations as finalists for its second annual Impact Investment Award, in which the two organizations with the highest number of votes will each receive a $100,000 donation to support their missions, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Voting is open to the public until June 30.

"It's exciting to see our customers and the community join us in our effort to serve others, as they learn more about our Impact Award finalists," Gas South President and CEO Kevin Greiner says in a statement.

The two organizations with the highest number of votes will each receive a $100,000 reward.

Finalists were selected from more than 250 applicants, a record-breaking number for the competition.Gas South now selects six finalists from organizations that aim to support children and families with basic needs, education, or illness and disabilities.

Last year's winning organizations were Sunshine on a Ranney Day and Food4Kids.

Voting closes June 30 and the winners will be announced the week of July 8.
