Majlis Mohamed Bin Zayed: There'S More to Education Than Good Grades, Says Expert

"Our children are more than a test score," says Ger Graus, a global education adviser and the first global director of education at KidZania.

"We should go beyond academics and seek insights from outside the classroom to provide [a] curriculum that incorporates creativity, progress, and innovation."

Graus, who spoke at the Majlis Mohamed bin Zayed conference in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, says schools must break away from the traditional classroom culture and embrace "museums and art galleries, our cultural heritage, are part of our education," Gulf News reports.

He says children are more likely to achieve if they're exposed to a wider range of career options.

Graus says children from disadvantaged backgrounds are more likely to choose less aspirational roles, because adults set expectations for them and "can only aspire to what they know exists," the National reports.

"When we talk about the growing and education of children, we need to think of the foundations and how we can make them as good as possible," Graus says.

He says schools and parents must work together to give children a platform to use their knowledge to create change. Read the Entire Article
