Crafting Success: Eileen Kang'S Journey as an Intuit Intern and Entrepreneur

When Eileen Kang started her jewelry business, Kinaesthetics Studio, out of her dorm room at Claremont University in California, she had no idea she'd end up being an Intuit Product Manager intern.

"I was making pieces for myself creating what I wanted to wear, but I quickly found myself drowning piles of jewelry I'd made," the 22-year-old tells Fast Company.

"I also had a lot of requests from friends to share my work."

So she started selling her pieces at flea markets, art shows, and, of course, online.

Now she's got a website, Facebook page, and Twitter account, and she's been featured on the cover of Fast Company's "10 Things to Know About Starting a Business" issue.

"I've experimented a lot with different ways to create an excellent product," Kang says.

"It feels difficult to convince myself that a pair of hand-made earrings is worth three times as much as something that can be done without mass-produced by testing various price points."
