The man who designed the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City and the Centre Pompidou in Paris has been chosen to design a new cultural complex in Boca Raton, Fla.

The Center for Arts and Innovation, which will be next to the Boca Raton Museum of Art, is expected to cost $115 million and be a "gamechanger" for the city, filling a "60-mile gap" in its cultural facilities between two major performing arts centers, Andrea Virgin, chair and CEO of the project, tells the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Piano, who won the Pritzker Prize for his work on the Whitney Museum and the Pompidou, will design the new complex with his firm, Renzo Piano Building Workshop.

"The international interest and ultimate selection of one of the world's greatest design architects underscores not only the global significance of this project, but the enormity of our supporters' courage, vision, and generosity," Virgin says in a statement.

The project, which will be the first cultural campus for RPBW in South Florida, is expected to break ground in 2025. Read the Entire Article
