When John VanNess died in 2017, his wife, Dorotha, set up the John and Dorotha VanNess Family Fund to honor the couple's long-standing commitment to improving the quality of life in the Potsdam, NY, area.
Since then, the fund has awarded $56,000 in grants to 17 Potsdam-area nonprofits, the Press Republican reports.
This year, the fund awarded $16,000 in grants to the North Country Center for Yoga and Health, Potsdam Central Schools' Yoga in the Schools program, the Potsdam Public Library, and the Potsdam Historical Society.
"The enduring gift from the VanNess Family Fund continues to impact residents of all ages," says Max DelSignore, assistant director of the Northern New York Community Foundation, which administers the fund.
