Major Boost for Youth Music Program

"When you reach a young person through music and support them with confidence and life skills, there's no limit to what they can achieve," says Anna Hohenboken, CEO of an Australian nonprofit.

That's exactly what Musicians Making a Difference will be doing with a $90,000 grant from the Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation to launch Rewriting Futures, a 10-week program for at-risk young people ages 15 to 24 who've already disengaged from education or employment.

The program will pair music education with mentoring to help participants develop emotional intelligence, practical life skills, and personal growth, reports news.com.au.

"Our purpose at Musicians Making a Difference is to inspire young people to make positive choices so they can find their place in the world," Hohenboken says.

"We believe that every young person deserves someone who believes in them, and with this funding, our team is empowered to reach young people across the Central Coast who are vulnerable or who need someone to believe in them."
